Photography

That's a very good picture. I'm very envious of you being able to get out and take such lovely shots. I just don't seem to have the time (or the skill with my camera)

I use a Panasonic Lumix TZ3 compact camera. It has 10x optical zoom and 28mm wide angle and I consider myself to be an average photographer who gets lucky from time to time.
For example, on Thursday I saw a record 8 water voles, spent 1 hour minutes taking 36 pictures.  Most of them were not particularly good:

Looks like I couldn't get the focus right on this one:

Damn, just missed it:

The combination of luck, patience and nearly 40 pictures the result in the occasional decent picture.

  1. Very excited this morning as both Mr and Mrs Bullfinch have come down from the trees and onto my birdfeeders for the first time! Managed to get 4 pics before they left but not really good enough to share I'm afraid (though they will do for evidence for my other half who was out at the time and who thinks I'm imagining them).

My camera is a Sony DSC-T90 which is very good but unfortunately only goes up to 4x zoom. It's excellent for macro shots though and I love identifying all kinds of insect life. I often use my camera to snap things whilst out so that I can identfy them when I get home. Much better than relying on memory!

  2. Worth the wait, Richard! I'm another who has to take a hundred shots for one really sharp one.
