  1. I went to Dry Sandford Pit the other day (came down to Abingdon to visit my Dad). I managed to get photos of quite a few butterflies which I later identified at home. They're not as good as the pictures you take but altogether I got: common blue (male and female), small copper, brown argus, gatekeeper, meadow brown and clouds of mint moths. It's a really good place for butterflies (but I bet you already know that!)

  2. I couldn't agree more, Dry Sandford Pit is a great place for not only butterflies but also wasps and and bees (did you check out the cliffs?).
If you get a chance it's worth a visit in October as there is a very impressive display of fungus (900 varieties have been recorded). Hopefully I'll do a blog post on it.
